A Musical Journey - special session with Jussi Ratilainen

Joensuu Multicultural Photography Club (JMPC) would like to invite you all to our special session with professional Photographer Jussi Ratilainen.

Jussi is a young professional photographer from Joensuu, who has for the last three years worked in the field of musical photography. He has worked in collaboration with artists such as Pendulum, Insomnium, Neljä Ruusua and Ghost Brigade only to name a few. His work have been featured in professional magazines of industry, for example Metal Hammer, Inferno, Rumba and also in band features and promotional shots.

In this session with JMPC,  Jussi will be presenting an insight on the field of musical photography. Apart from giving a sneak-peak to the nature of the field and technical issues, he will also be providing hands-on knowledge which he has been gained throughout the years. Besides on focusing on the "reality" of the field - the opportunities and challenges, the balancing of various factors - he will also be revealing personal experiences on how to make it in the field, in short, what draws the line between part-time musical photographers and professionals. These challenges include creating personal contacts, skating in the bureaucratic side of contracts and standing out in the highly competitive range of other musical photographers.

Jussi will be more than happy to answer any questions or matters of concern during and after the session, and encourages photographers with interests to the musical field to approach him during the presentation.

Whether you are into event pictures or have always entreated to learn about gig photography, this is one great opportunity you dont want to miss.
